Book Review: Where She Belongs by Johnnie Alexander

Where she belongs book cover

Pain. Loss. Death. Change. Shelby Kinkaid, a recent widow, uproots her two young daughters from their home, moves hundreds of miles away and buys her childhood home in the country. Raising her children where she grew up won’t be as easy as she imagined though as she is forced to face the demons of her past.

The sins of the father visit the future generations. AJ Sullivan is relieved to sell his late grandfather’s home to Shelby despite opposition from his fortune-seeking cousins who are intent to sell the home to the highest bidder, a developer. Unfortunately, his grandfather made choices long ago that affect his and his cousin’s futures.

AJ and Shelby discover shocking secrets about their past and their family’s shared history. Together they must face the sins of their grandfathers, overcome their differences, and change their future.

This was my first experience reading a novel by Johnnie Alexander and pleasantly surprised doesn’t begin to express my thoughts! Not only was the cover gorgeous, but the storyline was captivating and surprising, shocking me at the twists throughout the book. Just when you think you’ve got the story figured out, the next page delivers a surprising turn of events!
