Just Like Lemonade

  Our lemon trees are full of green lemons and I’ve been waiting for them to turn yellow. They aren’t ripening fast enough for me this year but that’s ok! When we can’t make lemonade from our huge Ponderosa lemons, we make Just Like Lemonade. 

Last year I came across a recipe from Trim Healthy Mama for Good Girl Moonshine. I was curious enough about the name to check it out and I was pleasantly surprised at what I found. It had minimal ingredients, simple to make and the ingredients used were intended to improve your health. So I tried it. 

It was…interesting. I wasn’t crazy about the ginger I could see swirling in it and because I had an awful experience drinking ginger tea when I was pregnant with the twins, I couldn’t even force myself to drink it. If you’re a THM fan like myself, it’s not bad, I promise! I’m sure it was because of my own bad experience which was why I couldn’t handle it. 

I made it a second time, leaving out the ginger and…I like it. It was good. I made a gallon of it before filling glasses of ice with the liquid. Like clockwork, the kids ran in from outside, hot and sweaty, begging for a drink of anything. I handed them the glasses and said, “Enjoy your lemonade!”

They didn’t even bat an eye before asking for seconds. It was a hit! Our “Lemonade” was a success in our home and I knew we would be drinking it often.

There are only three ingredients–Apple cider vinegar, stevia, and water.

  
    

 

Just Like Lemonade

1 c. Organic Apple cider vinegar

8 doonks (a THM measurement) stevia powder

1 gallon water

Mix well and pour over ice-filled glasses.
