Three Simple Tips to Organize Your Day

I’m very grateful to be here today, thanks so much for having me Amanda! I’m also excited because I’m sharing about one of my favorite topics, organizing! (Don’t worry, I’m not going to tell you that you need to go out and buy a label maker.)

In some ways organizing is simple and in other ways pretty complicated. It gets complicated because our homes are filled with people. And as I always say, the more people, the more stuff, the more mess.

As a busy (and tired) mom of three I’ve discovered through trial and error how important it is to intentionally organize your day. By taking a focused approach to your day, you are able to better meet the demands of every day life.

3 SimpleTips to Organize your Day

In order to more effectively organize your day, I’ve got three tips you can easily implement. These are game changers. And they are simple and doable, which is why they work!

Priorities

Look at your daily home and life, then choose three daily priorities you will plan to accomplish every morning and every evening. These focuses are areas which will help you and your family have even smoother transitions. The three (or six) daily priorities should only (each) require around 5-10 minutes to complete. Mornings and evenings are the gatekeepers of your day, so approach them with lots of intention.

Here are some ideas to help get you started:

  • Make bed(s)
  • Unload dishwasher
  • Start a load of wash
  • Pack lunches
  • Lay out outfits
  • Prep a meal
  • Put away one load of laundry

Planning

One of the easiest ways to stay on track with your daily plan and schedule, is to use a timer. Setting a timer puts bookends on the time around your activities. A timer provides you with a limit around whatever you are focusing on. When the bell rings you are reminded to shift your time and focus away and on to the next activity.

Pruning

One of the simplest ways to keep your home more tidy and organized, is to have a mentality of always being on the go! What I mean is that every single time you head upstairs, grab something to put away. When you get home make sure to bring in at least one thing from the car. Or when you open a piece of mail, immediately recycle or file the piece paper. Keeping up the momentum will help you to keep on top of things more naturally and easily. Pick up and prune the messes as you go!

These are three simple organizing tips you can easily add to your daily life. They will make a big difference in the overall organization and peace within your home. Life is messy, but you can take daily deliberate and intentional steps to create more order within the chaos.
